Building a City That Works
Parks & Community Spaces
Parks and Community Spaces are critical for offering places and spaces for neighbours to connect and build relationships with people and nature, contributing to a sense of belonging. I will push for:
Public washrooms in parks and improved washroom access across the city
Improved amenities in parks including shade, seating, pavilions, and splash pads
Creative partnerships with local leaders to increase frequency of community centres
Further naturalizing our greenways with tie-ins to active transport, allowing for groundwater replenishment, habitat continuity, ambient cooling, and pleasant outdoor spaces
Connectivity
To reduce social isolation and allow everyone in the city to access their regular needs and wants, the city must shift to a model where people can get where they're going, easily and safely. I want to bring this to Ward 3 by:
Adopting universal snow clearing
Advocating for increased bus service
Advocating to close the holes in our cycling network
Improving traffic control on big roads and near schools (Glen Forrest, Northlake, Lake Louise, Westmount)
Housing
Housing is a human right and neighbourhood communities are fostered by safe environments. It is the city's job to meet these needs and ensure every part of the city is constructed so that everyone can access safe, stable, affordable housing. To do this, I will advocate for:
Affordable units mandate in all new developments
Inclusionary zoning across the city
More, denser housing
Penalize developments whose progress is lagging
